My Daily Sneaker Devotion 1/20/11

So I was chilling with my cuzzo today Jacinda (@justcinda_o) and she gave me a pretty good idea for a daily post. The idea was that I post a daily Sneaker Devotion everyday on a different subject whether it has to do with cleaning sneakers, what sneakers to look forward to,etc. Today I would like to touch on a subject that I myself have fallen a victim to. And thats people that buy sneakers and do not wear them. You may catch some people that would buy an exclusive sneaker wrap them in Saran Wrap, throw them in the closet and never wear them. To some who are oblivious to the subject some people find it helpful to wrap their sneakers in plastic to prevent them from getting yellow and lasting longer. A simple mathematic equation that I have devised over countless restless nights of sleep will explain why this should not be done.

Simple enough........ Now on to the sneakers

So the moral of this story is Saran Wrap is for food not for sneakers sooooooooo WEAR YOUR SNEAKERS!!!!!..........P.S Don't forget to follow the twitter @TheJoshOquendo and hit me with any feedback that you might have. Until next time......

Drum Rollll Please...

2011 Sneak Peek...where to begin?!?....It looks like its going to be a good year for kicks, with rumors and confirmations of a lot of heat coming out this year. Some might compare it to 2001 with all the Retros making a return unfortunately the "Nike Air" will not. This shouldnt stop anybody from being excited in what Nike and Jordan has in store for us. Below are a preview of some kicks coming out in 2011 in no specific order. Let us know what you think and if you think we missed anything we appreciate the feedback.

To start off, the "Air Max Nomo" is an interesting mix of the Japanese pitcher Hideo Nomo's signature shoe with the obvious sole taken from the "Air Griffey Max 1." These should be a highlight among the Nike trainers coming out in 2011.

Looks like the Jordan Brand is coming back full circle this year to where it all started with the Bred I's. The box definitely adds to the shoes history to commemorate when the Jordan 1s first came out in 1985, and due to the NBA's strict uniform rules they were banned from being aired on TV and Jordan was fined $5000 every time he wore in a game.

For those of you that couldnt get your hands on the international release back in '09 the "True Blues" will be coming back this year. Definitely one of the most unique color combination among the collection of retro III's.

Jordan is bringing back some heat this year with the "Cardinal" VII's last retroed in '06. The VII's in it's rarest form will be the summer shoe of 2011.

To continue with the III's, these are probably one of the most anticipated Jordans for this year. The last time these hit shelves was in '08 as part of the CDP Series. This time around coming out solo, it is the perfect chance to add (as to what some refer) "The Holy Grails" to your collection.

As you can already see, it looks like the Jordan III is going to be the shoe for 2011. These "Black History Month" 3s are set to be an exclusive quickstrike release for the month of February, just in time to celebrate MLK Jrs. 25th Anniversary. You cant go wrong with an all black shoe and the gold accents definitely make them stand out, along with the suede/leather material and unique lazer print.

Next in line in the "Bin 23" collection are the V's. Maybe the most simple, however, it is a fresh addition and change to the normally colorful mixtures of V's. With an all back leather mid-sole the black/silver sole makes the shoe pop and you definitely cant go wrong with the icey bottoms.

Closing off last year the XIII's made a crazy comeback, including some of Jordan's most recognizable editions (the flints, altitudes, and white/reds). And what better way to continue with this comeback, by bringing back the retro "Playoff" XII's in 2011. Originally released over a decade ago in 97, they will be rereleased February 26th. Get them now these wont rerelease for a while.

One of the rarest Jordans are making a comeback this year, the "Bordeaux" VII's which have never been retroed before and are probably one of the dopest Jordans ever made. Originally released in February of 92, and most of you would be shocked to know that they were not a sellout, they were actually fairly easy to find back then. However, expect a campout April 16th for these. Named The "Bordeaux" after the claret wine color featured in the sneaker it was inspired by West African Tribal Art, founded in Portland. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, not only were they the first Air Jordan's to utilize Nike Huarache technology, but they were also the first Air Jordan's to be featured without the nike sign. Hatfield believed that the Jumpman sign could stand on its own. And boy was he right, In my opinion, these are one of the most anticipated rereleases of the retro collection. Sneaker Heads will be happy to know that "His Airness" is making a comeback.

The Jordan 11 has become known as the "X-mas Shoes" to get, especially within the last few years. With the "Bred" 11s in the CDP in '08, "Space Jams" '09, "Cool Greys" '10, 2011 is going to be no exception with the "Concords" hitting retailers (and hopefully Inception Boutique) this Holiday season.

Since the comeback of the "Eggplant" Foams in '09, Foamposites stayed on the scene in '10 with the "Coppers" and the return of the "Pearls" and the GR of the "Cough Drops" it seems like theres no reason to stop in 2011 with the return of the "Royal" Foams and some new colorways such as the "Pewters" (below).
